With the recruitment of Karl, who is a Forest School Leader (along with Lucy C), we are so lucky to now be running 2 forest school sessions per week for our preschoolers.
Wrapped up for all weathers and adventures we work as a team to build dens, look for animal tracks and explore our natural environment. Even in winter they are by far the favourite days of the week for children and staff alike!
We have recently decided to follow the Wanderlust programme for our outdoor learning pre-schoolers. The Wanderlust Nature Study is a 52-week programme looking at how we can connect with nature each and every day, developing our own understanding as educators and also that of the children’s. It is organised around the natural rhythm of the seasons and offers opportunities to learn about wildlife, natural phenomena and the natural world around us.
We are very excited to begin our Wanderlust journey and it will complement our forest school well. Within our weekly topics we will: try recipes, go on nature walks, collect natural materials and complete garden jobs. We have also given you weekly ideas for home learning too in our new preschool planning. Our promise is to explore how learning happens and go with the flow and natural rhythm of the day and child interest.
