Pumpkin Pips

Birth – 2’s Room

We can offer nursery places from newborn upwards.

Our babies enjoy their own separate space within the building which enables them to learn and develop in a quieter, cosier space. They also benefit from a separate sleep room, an enclosed area for our youngest babies to safely explore, messy activity spaces and easy access to our all year round garden designed with them in mind.

When the weather is fair, you will often see our babies out on walks around the village in our fleet of pushchairs, having a trip to the park, spotting wildlife, attending the local playgroup at the village hall and enjoying a fresh air snooze!

Our Core Nursery Rhymes

Singing nursery rhymes and songs to babies can help develop their language and communication from an early age. Singing nursery rhymes can also help to develop children’s social skills and is a great opportunity for children to join in with their peers.

Speech and language experts have conducted research which concluded that children who knew 8 nursery rhymes by the time they were 4 years old, were the most confident and highest achieving readers and spellers by the time they reached Year 3 at school. For these reasons, we have introduced some core nursery rhymes into our Pips room which we sing on a daily basis, and also use Makaton sign language which encourages children to copy the signs and actions to learn the meaning behind words.

The videos below show the signs for our four current core nursery rhymes in the Pips room – Wind the Bobbin Up, Twinkle Twinkle, Three Little Monkeys and Bouncing Along on the Tractor if you would like to watch and sign along with your baby.

“Mollie has been at Pumpkin Pie since 3 months old and I had the confidence of putting her in so early based on the amazing experience I had with Kimberly being there all these years. Mollie’s loving nursery and I love hearing about her days with her teachers and friends and seeing her happily walk into nursery gives me such joy of knowing she is in a happy safe and loving environment.”
